Some site updates...

It's funny. Actually putting a track up for comment really gets you fired up to do "all those things you've been planning to do". (In my case, for years....!)

So. I think I've got this blog set up for everything I want.

• I've added a way for folks to bookmark this site all over creation. Please do.

• I've added a link to whatever will be the most current track on SoundCloud. Unfortunately you can't really see the comments from other folks with the size so constrained there on the side. Here's a tip: If you click the track title under the waveform display, it will take you to the SoundCloud site. You will promptly be met with a "Member's Only" message. HOWEVER, in that same pop-up is an option to request an invite. Don't know what criteria they use to send one, but asking is free....

• I've added a player to feature more tracks. (Currently no tracks are loaded.)

• There's the Pandora stations and SoundCloud Drop Box from before.

What's left?

• I'll probably add links to things like SoundClick or SnoCap when I have them.

• If there is an easy way to post a videoplayer I will, but I will most likely make this a seperate page like the photo album on the left.

Anyway, this is fun. And I encourage anybody out there who, like me, is sitting on the fence about getting "stuff" out there for folks to react to, comment on, or just plain hear "Just Do It". It's really cool.

Almost a year to the day....

...well sort of anyway. For a quick synopsis of what has been going on, check the bottom of the post.

Musically I've been reasonably active. Studying mostly. Am determined to develop a basic understanding of theory, composition, and arranging this year.

I've been really inspired of late by Max Richter and Murcof and am getting more deeply into artist like AES Dana and H.U.V.A.

I posted my first track ever in a public forum for listening and comment. Pretty excited by that. Good incentive to finish my latest set of tracks. The service is called SoundCloud. It's pretty cool. You upload tracks and can see comments about it, listen to stuff left by other members, leave comments, collaborate. Pretty neat. Invite only at the moment, and they don't give you but three invites to use. It's in Beta though so hopefully it will open up to a wider audience soon.

A couple of other changes....Notice the stations on the right? These are some of my Pandora Radio Stations. Pandora is such a cool and great service. The greedy f*cks at the record companies don't realize that they are killing the goose by putting them out of business. I'm beginning to think we won't see a revitalization of the labels until those old b*stards retire. Assuming they don't completely destroy the industry first.

Also, if you have some tracks of your you would like me to hear, or if you want to collaborate on something, use the dropbox on the right to upload some tracks. I promise a response to anything someone sends me.

Last post was in October of last year. All the best intentions to keep it up but, well, LOTS has happened.

--A new life entered the world on May 13th when my son Gabriel was born. This -- and everything leading up to it and everything since -- has been a huge and wonderful change.

--A life left this world three weeks ago when my brother died of liver cancer. A sad event, but one made easier by the strength of his character and his peace with things as time collapsed. He was (and is) a singular and special individual.

In between, around, and through there has been everything else!

You never know when or where it hits....

Just a quick note. More later. (Really.)

I visited my sister and her husband over the weekend to see my new niece. (Or as my sister likes to refer to her "the most beautiful baby in the world!" :-) ) I took my "mobil rig" with me - Reason, a macbook, and a small m-audio 2 octave keyboard. Don't know why. The trip was so short, but I did anyway.

Turns out that was a good thing as at about 1 a.m. I began a new piece.

For now, here is an early draft. There are a few more things I want to do of course, but more on the process and thoughts behind it later...gotta get to the day job!
